Costa Rica has two international airports: San Jose and Liberia. You will want to fly to Liberia. Nosara is within driving distance from Liberia International Airport. You can also arrange a transport (car service) to come pick you up at the airport and bring you to Nosara. See the “Renting a car” page here for more information.
San Jose is not recommended to fly into due to the distance away from Nosara. However, if you are unable to find a flight to Liberia, you can fly to San Jose and take a flight from San Jose to Nosara (a 25 minute flight), or take a van to Nosara (a 6 hour drive). Unfortunately, flights from the USA usually land in the evening in San Jose, meaning the next flight to Nosara is the following morning. If you do this, you will want to stay at the Best Western Irazu – this hotel is very safe, and the staff speaks English.
From New York City Area
Newark – United Airlines has direct flights from Newark-EWR to Liberia-LIR (Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport). These flights are usually around $600-$700 a ticket. I do not believe the service is 7 days a week, so if you get ‘no seats found’ try bumping your search forward or backward by a day or two.
JFK – Jet Blue operates direct flights every day from JFK to Liberia-LIR (Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport). This is the recommended option for our Guest. Prices start at $470 round trip.
